Great fun for kids and casual gamers, ideal for parties

The beauty of 101 in 1 Party Megamix is that it's instantly playable, just load it up and away you go, no reading of tedious instruction manuals required. This makes it ideal for kids or for parties where everyone just wants to dive in and start playing with no learning curve.
Although the game consists of 101 mini-games, at the beginning there are only 6 games, with the rest having to be unlocked as you progress through the games. The game has 3 modes - TV Guide Mode, Zapping Mode and Marathon Mode. TV Guide Mode is the mode you need to play to unlock more games, this is the main playing mode. Zapping mode just lets you play any of the currently unlocked games, so is handy for some quick game playing. Marathon Mode is a multi-player mode where you compete against other players in 5 random games, with the scores added up at the end and the winner declared.
Once you win at one game, you will be rewarded with the unlocking of more games. If you win well then not only are more games unlocked but you are awarded a medal which can be collected and entitle you to further rewards.
The Megamix is extremely easy to navigate and the interface is very user-friendly and intuitive. When each mini-game starts there's a brief description of its objectives and a little diagram explaining what controls you need to use, with many of the games using the Wii Nunchuk.
The mini-games themselves are all divided into different themes such as Sports, Movies, Aquatics, etc. The graphics in the games are very cartoony which suits the games perfectly and all the games have a whacky sense of humour. So you have games like Dwarf Hurling which, as it says, is throwing a dwarf over the ocean then guiding the dwarf round obstacles, all quite insane but good fun. Urban Skydiving involves jumping from a building then trying to grab people's clothes from their clothes lines on the way down to accumulate points. Submarine Snooker provides the novelty of playing snooker underwater, with all the trickiness that entails.
You probably get the picture, generally the games are very humorous and tongue in cheek. Overall most of the games are straightforward to play and can be completed with a bit of practice, but there are some games, like the aforementioned Urban Skydiving, which are very challenging to the point of being very frustrating and a little annoying, seemingly relying just as much on luck as on skill.
Overall though this is a very entertaining collection of mini-games that can genuinely be played by young kids as well as adults. A few of the games are frustrating to play, being far too exact and fiddly for kids to complete, but with 101 games there's always bound to be a few awkward ones. But generally the vast majority of these games are easy to play and very enjoyable, especially in multiplayer, and makes for some great party games.
