I bought this to save luggage space and to keep things simple. My phone (nokia) and MP3 player (sansa clip) can both charge from usb, so I can basically use this simple plug and a lead for all my electrical needs when I go travelling. I've taken it when staying with friends and at hotels in the UK and has worked well with a European plug adaptor abroad when needed.

Overall it works well, it's cheap and convient, although it does seem to take a bit longer charging my phone using this, but this really doesn't bother me.

Does not charge iPhone 3GS

I bought three of these to charge my GoPro HeroHD cameras. They seem to work fine for this purpose. A few days ago I tried to use one to charge my iPhone 3GS and nothing happened. After trying all three chargers, two Apple cables and two iPhones it was definitely the charger. A little Googling revealed that the iPhone probably needs some intelligence at the charger end to allow it to start charging which this charger doesn't have. The supplied charger plug with the iPhone must obviusly have this!

So - fine for many things, but likely not to work with Apple products, or devices which expect to commnicate before they will charge.

I bought this charger for my sister because she is going on holiday and wants to charge her iPod nano, when I received this charger it charged absolutely nothing! Don't recommend for you to buy this!
